Now chain latches like these are great for gates. They still work and latch even when your gate posts moves on you. When attached to the top rail of the gate as it should be, it allows you to easily work the gate from horse back.
Now one is sold for about $6 on the internet and one is sold right here for $14 (bolts not included)
One breaks as soon as a horse leans on the gate and the other will hold with cattle banging on the gate. (used in many feedlots and alleyways without failure)
